I don't know whether or not to blame Mark Cuban for starting all of this anti-inauguration fluff, but whoever's to blame is irrelevant at this point.
Just stop it. It's silly, it's petty, and it makes otherwise sincere and thoughtful people come off pathetic and lost.
Bush isn't doing anything that Kerry wouldn't have done in his place. He's not doing anything unprecedented. He's not doing anything differently than any random person in his position would do.
And y'know, speaking as someone who is trying to get by in an economy far shittier than our Dickhead In Chief cares to admit, the last thing I want to see is Bush pinching pennies on his inauguration. That would be a downer for the country's fragile psyche, something we simply do not need. It would send about a dozen bad messages, and benefit absolutely no one.
Dan Gillmor on Grassroots Journalism, Etc.: Letting Them Eat Cake, and Bullets
What Bush and his allies are doing is just plain vulgar, particularly in wartime.
